    What is a
    planetary hour?

Traditional planetary hours follow the repeating order of Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, the Sun, Venus, Mercury and the Moon. The first hour after sunrise belongs to that weekday's planetary ruler.

A planetary day runs from sunrise to the following sunrise. Before sunrise, the current hour still belongs to the previous planetary day. Day and night hours change length with the season and latitude.

These meanings describe an astrological tradition, not scientifically established predictions. Sunrise and sunset are calculated approximately; terrain and atmospheric conditions can affect observed times.

How do I find today’s planetary hours?

Choose your city, select Today, then select Show planetary hours. The schedule uses your selected city’s local time. Choose any hour to explore its ruler and traditional meaning.

Why do planetary hours have different lengths?

There are always 12 daytime and 12 nighttime intervals in this method. A longer summer day gives longer daylight hours and shorter night hours. A shorter winter day does the reverse.

Are these hours personalized to my birth chart?

No. This free calculator uses your chosen city and date. Personalized guidance requires birth details and a separate calculation. This free calculator does not collect birth details.

Why are some polar dates unavailable?

This method needs sunrise and sunset to divide the day and night. When the sun stays above or below the horizon, the normal 24-interval schedule cannot be calculated.
